We’ve been writing for Houzz since the launch of the UK site in 2014. Melanie Shaw, Lighting Design Director at Brilliant Lighting has contributed a series of ideabooks. Each focuses on a particular aspect of lighting design; Lighting External Spaces, Staircase Lighting, Kitchen Lighting etc.
We found we would get the same questions around the more technical areas of lighting in each ideabook so as a reference guide we wrote an ideabook called A Beginner’s Guide to LED lighting. It’s an introduction to LED lighting and the things you need to consider when designing a lighting scheme using LED as a primary source. You can see it on the Houzz site below as well as a selection of our finished projects.
This site builds on the ideas in that Houzz ideabook. We want to make residentiallightingdesign.co.uk an essential resource for people looking for inspirational lighting and how to achieve it. Check out the lighting technology section for easy-to-digest, bite-size explanations of the technology that’s important in lighting today. We’ll be expanding the lighting technology section over the next couple of weeks but in the meantime can we point you in the direction of The Lighting Buyer’s Technical Guide on our commercial site. It’s a free download which we developed to support our online shop at www.brilliantlighting.co.uk. It’s an essential primer on choosing, specifying and designing with LED lighting.
